More About Beth
Beth grew up in Western Colorado and attended the University of Colorado where she
received a B.A. in French. After college, she studied for one year at the University of
Grenoble and spent a second year doing social work with workers' families in Lyon,
France. Upon her return to the U.S., she taught French for three years in Arvada,
Colorado. She moved to Mariposa in 1970 with her husband and young son and, when a
job opened at Mariposa County High School, she taught French there for 21 years.
During that time, she received an M.A. in French from UC Santa Barbara.
In retirement, she worked with the founding group of Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa
County from 2006 to 2008 when HFH of MC was affiliated with Habitat International.
She was Vice President for four years and then served as Volunteer Executive Director
for the non-profit from 2012 to 2016.
In 2020 and 2022, she worked on both Measure N and Measure O to secure funding to
build a new JC Fremont Hospital to the earthquake standards of the State of California.
She co-chaired Measure O which garnered 69.62% of the vote in 2022 and is dedicated
to seeing the new hospital built. She is passionate about the continuing need for a
hospital here.
